Claremore Police are looking for the person who robbed OD’s Fast Stop on Oct. 5.
At 2 that morning, a call was made to the police department regarding a break-in at the store located at 1101 W. Blue Starr Dr.
The alarm company reported front door glass breakage and interior motion activation.
On duty Patrol Officer Mark Book was blocks down the street when the call was received. Book looked west towards OD’s and saw a vehicle coming towards him. He took note of the vehicle make and model and continued on to the store, according to the report.
When officer Book arrived on scene, he noticed the front glass of the store broken with no suspicious vehicles or foot traffic in the area.
He then told responding officers what he saw and informed them of the vehicle he had seen earlier.
Sgt. Jaime Starling was east of Book on Blue Starr and made contact with the vehicle. Starling later reported that the driver was a lone female who had just finished work and was headed home.
She had past the store but did not see anyone driving or on foot in the area.
When he entered the store, Book noticed a large concrete cinder block lying on the floor that had been used to break the front glass, according to his report.
One of the owners, Ut Thi Powell, later arrived at the scene and noticed money missing from the safe and cash register.
Powell said there was approximately $350 inside of the register which was left for the store opening and said the surveillance camera was operational but not yet hooked up.
The night before at approximately 10:30, as Powell was closing the store, she was addressed by another employee about a suspicious vehicle sitting in the Summit Physical Therapy business just east of the location across Chambers Avenue.
Powell said as she went to get a better look, the vehicle sped away north on Chambers Avenue from Blue Starr.
Both Powell and the other witness described the car as either black or dark blue with a spoiler, low profile tires and loud exhaust.
“We had just received a new shipment of cigarettes the day before the break in,” said owner OD Powell. “They were all stolen as well.”
OD Powell said the entire shipment of cigarettes was worth about $4,000.
“After the cash register money, safe money, tobacco and replacement of the glass in the windows, the total came to around $8,000,” he said.
The Powells are in the process of purchasing updated HD cameras for the store and parking lot which should be installed early this week.
