Claremore couple arrested on child abuse charges

CLAREMORE —

Claremore Police have arrested a couple in connection with the suspected abuse of a 6-month-old baby in Rogers County.
Tiffany Cinnette Love, 20, and her boyfriend Matthew Scott Jenkins, 22 were arrested June 11 and June 13, respectively, after police were contacted by doctors from Hillcrest Hospital Claremore, suspecting child abuse.
“Miss Love and her mother, the child’s grandmother, brought the boy in to be treated for an injury to his arm — he wouldn’t or couldn’t raise it up,” said Sgt. Wayne Stinnett, Claremore Police Department. “Upon examination of the child, doctors found him to have several injuries, including four bone fractures — one in his leg, one in his left forearm, a newer one in his right forearm and a very new (fracture) in his right upper forearm — in various stages of healing.”
The doctor then contacted Claremore Police who also examined the child and concurred with the doctors’ suspicions that the nature of the child’s injuries were probable signs of child abuse.
Love was then arrested and her boyfriend, Jenkins, was arrested thereafter, both on charges of child abuse. She has no other children, Stinnett said.
Stinnett said the baby was not the mutual child of Love and Jenkins, and he is expected to recover.
The child is currently in state’s custody.
Jenkins is currently in the Rogers County Drug Court program, and it is unclear how the new accusations will affect his case there.
