Stop the violence

CPD to host workplace violence seminar, breakfast

CLAREMORE — Claremore Police Department will host a breakfast and seminar on workplace violence at Rogers State University’s Centennial Center, Jan. 30 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Pelco Structural and the Claremore Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the seminar.

The event is open to the public and free of charge and will feature, Chief of Police, Stan Brown as the guest speaker.

Brown and the Claremore Police Department is placing special focus on this topic and the serious nature of this subject.

“To the business community and public in general, I want to emphasis the timeliness and significance of engaging in a discussion on this very important issue.  One anecdotal response has always been ‘if you fail to plan then you plan to fail’.  I want everyone that is interested to attend and gain important tips and techniques to plan for workplace violence when it does occur and hopefully to prevent it before it does,” Brown said.

Workplace Violence Seminar is designed to detail scenarios, provide tools, and educate employers on what to do if a situation occurs in the workplace.

State and federal agencies are taking a stand on workplace violence.

New resources are being made available to employers each year and more prevention efforts are being established each year by employers, according to www.labor.gov.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is also working closely with state agencies to bring about more awareness.

 “Our most valuable resource is our human resource,” says Phil Albert, President of Pelco Structural, LLC, “and we must take measures that protect our stakeholders in the workplace.”
