Annual Patronage Drive presents Tulsa Symphony ensemble

Staff Reports Claremore Progress The Claremore Daily Progress Thu Jan 10, 2013, 05:53 AM CST

CLAREMORE — Since 2007, the Claremore Symphony League (CSL) and Tulsa Symphony Orchestra (TSO) have partnered to share musical and educational opportunities with the Claremore community. Throughout that time, CSL has raised more than $40,000, providing Claremore schools with orchestral concerts and music education.

As part of the fundraising, CSL’s Patronage Drive will present chamber ensembles of the Tulsa Symphony at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 in RSU’s Will Rogers Auditorium. Admission to the concert is $5 for the general public and free for students.
The musical event includes Tulsa Symphony’s Brass Quintet and String Quartet performing a wide variety of classical and popular favorites selected from their Jan. 18 performance at the Tulsa Philbrook Museum’s Patti Johnson Wilson Auditorium.
“Tulsa Symphony is excited about the opportunity to bring this type of concert to the Claremore community with the support of CSL,” said TSO Executive Director Ron Predl. “It provides a real showcase for the work CSL is doing and we hope it will encourage more Claremore residents to support and participate in the organization.”
Immediately following the concert, CSL is sponsoring a reception in the Baird Hall Foundation’s Gallery to meet and greet the TSO musicians and board members of both organizations. The reception is also an opportunity for former members to renew their patronage and for new members to join.
“The money raised from the Patronage Drive concert goes towards funding CSL’s music education program, bringing the Tulsa Symphony to the elementary schools,” said CSL Vice President Stephani Freeman.
The concert will introduce Ron and Gwen Liebl, Honorary Chairs of the Claremore Symphony League Ball, the organization’s annual major fundraising event. This year’s event is scheduled for March 2, at the RSU Centennial Center.
TSO’s contemporary Tulsa Rock Quartet will perform student recruitment concerts for the string education program Jan. 25 and Feb. 1 at Catalayah and Westside Elementary.
CSL’s string education program is offered to younger students and continues to grow each year. Each class is led by professional TSO artist teachers.
