Downton Abbey Tea comes to Claremore

Salesha Wilken Staff Reporter The Claremore Daily Progress Wed Mar 13, 2013, 06:01 AM CDT

CLAREMORE — The Belvidere Mansion in Claremore is hosting a Downton Abbey Tea at 4 p.m. March 21 in the Tea Room,  121 N. Chickasaw Ave in Claremore.

The event will feature local historical society members as they portray the characters from the popular PBS television series.
Guests are encouraged to dress in the fashions popular during the Great War, according to Sandy Coy, event coordinator.
Afternoon Darjeeling tea will be served with sweets and savories, she said.
“I will be acting as one of the main characters,” Coy said. “Volunteers will be playing different roles. The idea is to have an encounter as the ladies of Downton Abbey come to visit the prestigious Bayless family of Claremore.”
Volunteers will also be portraying John M. Bayless and his wife Mary, Coy added.
Guest will be greeted at the door by the characters and will enjoy a one of a kind afternoon tea adventure, according to Coy.
This event is just one of many special teas or presentations offered to help promote the historical society.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Rogers County Historical Society’s efforts to restore and renovate the mansion.
For more information contact the Belvidere Tea Room at (918) 342-1127.
Reservations are required.
