Junior Ocieleta Club of Claremore 29th annual Christmas Home Tour scheduled

Staff Reports Claremore Progress The Claremore Daily Progress Sun Nov 25, 2012, 06:38 AM CST

CLAREMORE — Homes have been selected and plans are underway for the 29th Annual Junior Ocieleta Christmas Home Tour. This community tradition is the main fundraiser each year for the Junior Ocieleta Club.

Five homes are featured throughout Claremore on this year’s tour. Each year, hundreds of people tour the homes and enjoy shopping with the crafters.
All proceeds from the tour go back into the community. Some organizations sponsored include: Safenet, The Manger, United Way, Rogers County Youth Shelter, Rogers County School Foundations, Bit-by-Bit, Safenet, CASA and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Each year, scholarships are provided to Rogers County high school seniors.  Additionally, the club has established the Ocie Mayberry Scholarship Endowment for students at Rogers State University.
This year’s tour will be on Saturday, December 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Homes in Claremore to be included on the tour this year are:
• Mike and Arlene Brown, 13825 E 460 Road
Mike and Arlene welcome you to their newly-renovated, split-level home, nestled in the trees on a scenic two and a half acres. The home showcases upper and lower decks that overlook a park like setting with a winding creek running through it.
As you walk to the entrance of the main level you will find an open floor plan with modern and traditional décor.  The kitchen is done in cherry with black and gray granite for a rich warm feeling. Also on the main level, the large master bedroom featuring a fireplace and a private deck provides a cozy and relaxing hideout.
The light and airy sunroom has a panoramic view of the grounds with a patio that puts you at tree level to enjoy the sounds of the weather and wildlife. The lower level features a media/game room with exposed beams, as well as a guestroom and bath.  Garden doors lead out to the deck for outdoor entertaining in this tranquil setting.
Also on the grounds you will find a four-car garage, above ground pool with decking and an office that houses the Brown’s business.  This is definitely an estate you will want to experience.

• Eric and Jamie Kennedy, 14851 East Fieldstone Drive South
Eric and Jamie welcome you to their beautiful newly built 2012 home that sits on one acre in the Fieldstone Addition.  As you stand on their spacious front porch, you feel invited to walk right in.  The tall ceiling in the living room adds space to their open split floor plan.  Serving as the focal point of the room, the fireplace will immediately catch your eye.
The kitchen is perfect for a family gathering or entertaining.  It features granite countertops and lots of custom cabinets.  Down the hall from the kitchen you will find this Cowboy family’s study decorated with OSU memorabilia.
The rich tones of the master bedroom’s décor provide a cozy feel.  Completing the master suite, the spacious bathroom features an oversized tub and separate shower.
Opposite the master suite are the other two bedrooms that belong to their daughters.  These very fun rooms are accented with lots of color and spotlight the girls’ personalities.
This well-designed home is warm, inviting and lovely, but practical as well.  It will definitely get you in the holiday spirit!

• Ashly Snyder, 910 W. 6th Street
This special home is returning to the tour for a second year.  The quaint three-bedroom, two-bath cottage first appeared on last year’s tour mid-construction as part of a partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
This year, Ashly Snyder and her son Cameron are proud to open the doors of their new home to show off the craftsmanship of countless community volunteers and to prove that good taste can be found within any sized income. Dubbed “The Pinterest House”, the Snyder home is beautifully decorated with Do-It-Yourself projects and low-budget, hand-crafted goods.
This house is warm and inviting and will get you in the spirit for the holiday season.  Be sure to visit the JO website after the tour for links to many of the projects adorning the Snyder home.

• Nate & Lisa Saylor, 14828 East Glenwood Drive
As you wind along the tree-lined streets of the Glenwood Addition, you come across a big surprise.  Perched on a beautiful tree lot, right in the middle of a row of traditional homes, you find a little piece of Santa Fe.
Nate and Lisa Saylor spent a couple of years in New Mexico before returning to their native Oklahoma roots.  They so loved the Southwestern architecture, they decided to bring a little of it with them.  They designed and built their family home of 4,200 ft_ with the idea of creating a homestead for their four daughters.
The stucco home features hand-stripped beams, hand-cut corbels and authentic carved vigas, inside and out.  Upon entering their carved front door, you are struck by the continued uniqueness of this home.  A plaster lit niche, faux finish and hand-painted wall art greet you in the foyer.  The 28-foot vaulted ceiling and unusual windows welcome you to the great room and the 400 ft_ kitchen says “come in and stay awhile.”  The kitchen features a commercial stove, island vegetable sink and a baking center.  The dining room, as well as many other rooms, is highlighted with custom-made, hand-thrown pottery lights and sconces.  Custom draperies and florals are featured throughout the house.  The master suite mimics a grand spa retreat with its sunk-in bedroom, French doors to outside, whirlpool tub with beamed surround and stone and tile walk-in shower.  The unusual style is carried upstairs to the children’s bedrooms and bathrooms as well as two sitting areas, a hobby room and a well-used upstairs laundry.
The different style of this home is also reflected in Lisa’s choice of Christmas designs.  As an interior designer and a florist, she chose to create her own unique Christmas décor.
The most remarkable thing about this home is the serious detail given to each area.  Nate and Lisa worked hand-in-hand to use their combined talents to create a one-of-a-kind home; something you expect to be surrounded by desert sand and tumbleweeds.  So as you leave Glenwood Estates and the Saylor Home, you just might catch yourself thinking, “Boy, El Azteca sure sounds good!”  Feliz Navidad!

• Chad and Misty Choat, 25116 S. 4150 Road
Nestled on sixteen acres, Chad and Misty’s home is a perfect blend of country and modern.  The home was built with a wonderful open floor plan in 1992, and underwent some renovations in 2005, making it the beautiful home it is today.
The family’s two horses welcome you as you drive through the gate and onto the property.  Walking up to the house, the first thing you notice is the home’s beautiful front porch with inviting French doors.  The entryway has a gorgeous rock fireplace and a custom built-in bookshelf.  Glowing wood floors cover the entire entryway, dining room and living room, enhancing the natural light in the house from all the windows.  The kitchen is sure to be the envy of all the cooks out there with gorgeous granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and custom woodwork.
Misty’s favorite feature of the kitchen is the door leading out to the front porch.  The cozy living room has another beautiful rock fireplace and a wall full of windows - the perfect setting for a fun-filled family night in.  An oversized back porch stretches almost the entire back side of the home, giving you a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors.
The Choat’s have two daughters, Shelby and Morgan.  Shelby’s room is a beautifully laid out bedroom any teenager would love to have.
She has her own loft in her room, equipped with two beds - perfect for sleepovers!  She also has her own bathroom featuring a gorgeous chandelier.  Morgan has a “wing” of the house known as Mo’s Wing.  This consists of her bedroom, decorated in pink and adorned with its own cute chandelier, her own bathroom and a game room complete with a foosball table.
Tickets are available for purchase now from any Junior Ocieleta Club member or at the following locations: Belvidere Mansion, Crafted: An Artisan Boutique, Floral Creations, Gripado’s, Hoovers Have All Mall, J&J Pharmacy, Lilack Salon, The Nut House, The Pink House, Uniquely Susies’s, Claremore City Hall and RCB Bank locations in Claremore.
