VERDIGRIS —
The Verdigris Valley Search & Rescue, Inc. Team will host an Introduction to Search and Rescue (ISAR) class Sept. 17-18 at the Verdigris Fire Station.
The course is designed to provide knowledge concerning the general responsibilities, skills, abilities, and equipment needed by individuals who would be participating in a search and rescue mission.
The course is based around rural and wilderness environments, but the material is recommended as a base of knowledge for all Search and Rescue (SAR) environments. The ISAR course is the first course in a stepping stone approach to higher level courses of training for emergency personnel. It also provides a common starting point in training for someone new to SAR and a refresher course for the more experienced SAR worker.
The recommended number of hours for the course is 16 for certification, according to the knowledge objectives defined in the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR) Standards for SAR Technician III.
For more information or to enroll, contact Janell Haynie, at (918) 344-3607 or esptwh2@gmail.com. Enrollment deadline is Sept. 2.
