VERDIGRIS —
Verdigris High School and Middle School will be honoring local heroes at 10 a.m. on Friday during a special program in remembrance of 9/11.
The student-led program will be in the Jack Collins High School Gym. Middle School Boy Scouts will be presenting the colors.
Euell Hanna and the Verdigris High School Band will perform patriotic music.
Elementary Principal Jim Anderson will host the program and Brock Rowlett, 9/11 survivor, will be the keynote speaker.
Verdigris Schools would like to invite the public to join them in honoring the memory of this historic and tragic event.

Blue Star Mothers sell Memorial Day flowers in support of troops
The Rogers County Blue Star Mothers chapter will sell Memorial Day flowers today, through Sunday to help raise money for troops. Flowers and sprays will be sold from 4-6 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday on the corner of First and Lynn Riggs, across from the old courthouse.

Verdigris Elementary student brings hope to Moore survivors
After watching the news about Monday’s devastating EF-5 tornado in Moore, 11-year-old Holly Morgan, of Verdigris, thought of a way to raise funds for disaster relief. Morgan drew a picture and asked her mother to help recreate the design to print on a T-shirt.
