INOLA —
Superintendent Dr. Kent Holbrook told members of the Inola School Board that last year was a year of construction for the district. These were multiple projects that were approved by the last bond issue. There was work on the new high school gym outside, as well as several renovation projects on inside the high school and middle school. The science classrooms and labs in the middle school and high school were major renovation projects. In addition, six restrooms were renovated.
The new FFA-4H Show Barn is expected to be completed by early December. In addition to the bond money, a $50,000 grant was obtained from Grand Gateway that was secured by the Ag Boosters.
A new building will be erected next to the ROTC Building to provide more classroom space, which is needed due to almost 100 new students in just over a year.
Insurance paid for repairs to damage from the winter storm at the elementary school and the visitor’s bleachers at the football field.
Following executive session, the board approved the employment of the following personnel for the 2011-2012 school year: Nancy Reeder (high school choir pianist) on a temporary contract; Quetta Spurlock (elementary teacher) on a temporary contract; Katina Wilson (part time evening custodian) on a temporary contract; Robert Clark (evening custodian) on a temporary contract; and additional duty stipend for Janitorial Staff Manager to Bobby Shanks.
In other business the board approved: the milk bid for the year 2011-12 to Hiland Dairy; Estimate of Needs for Inola Public Schools; F12 Allocation of Statewide Alternative Program Funds to the Local Education Agency (LEA in Claremore) for the Cooperative; Annual Statement of New Open Transfers for 2011-12; Christmas Savings Program; and the Inola Association of Classroom Teachers Agreement.
