The Inola Longhorns closed out their 2012 football season with a solid performance in a 28-17 win over Kellyville Thursday on Senior Night.
Mason Stookey ran for a pair of touchdowns and quarterback Zac Proctor tossed a pair of touchdown passes as Inola finished the season with a 4-6 overall record.
The Longhorns got things rolling early in the first quarter with Proctor connecting on a 12-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Misner. The two-point conversion pass was successful and the Longhorns led Kellyville, 8-0.
Kellyville answered on the ensuing series with an 83-yard pass play that narrowed the deficit to 8-6.
Inola took advantage of a stunning defensive stand and capitalized with Proctor firing a 40-yard touchdown pass over the shoulder of tight end Chase Phillips to put the Longhorns ahead 15-7.
Inola pushed the lead to 22-7 right before halftime with Stookey rumbling in from the 2 yard line.
Kellyville’s offense was kept in check for most of the first half, but came out with a short passing game in the third quarter.
Kellyville marched down the field and scored on a pass play to narrow the gap to 22-14.
The Longhorns then used another Stookey touchdown run of 10 yards to give Inola a 28-14 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Kellyville’s final score came on a 42-yard field goal.
Kellyville ended the season with a 0-10 record.
