BROKEN ARROW —
A Catoosa woman was taken to a Tulsa hospital this morning with injuries sustained when she hit a tree in Wagoner County.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports, 49-year-old Vicki Lynne Puckett of Catoosa was eastbound in her 2001 Toytota Tacoma on 31st Street South, three miles south of Broken Arrow in Wagoner County at 12:07 a.m.
Puckett swerved to the right to avoid hitting a coyote, when she traveled eastbound in the south ditch approximately 77 feet before re-entering the roadway, traveling across and exiting the roadway again, to the left and struck a tree.
The Tacoma then rolled back and came to a rest on its top, according to the report.
Puckett was pinned approximately 15 minutes before she was freed by Broken Arrow Fire and Rescue, after which she was transported by Broken Arrow EMS to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where she was admitted in stable condition with internal trunk injuries.
Puckett was reported to have been wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
OHP Trooper Steven Crooks of the Muskogee Turnpike Detachmant was the investigating officer, with assistance by Wagoner County sheriff’s Office and Broken Arrow Fire and Rescue.
