Fallin visits Baker Hughes

CLAREMORE — “Congratulations Claremore, what a wonderful addition to your community,” Governor Mary Fallin said during a tour Tuesday of  the Baker Hughes's Centrilift  facility in Claremore, including the current research facilities on site.

The tour provided an inside look at the ESP system and technologies that are pushing forward the growth and expansion in Claremore.

The company is adding a $36 million dollar expansion to the Claremore location to be used for research and development.

This is great news for Claremore and the employees of Baker Hughes, it is a huge compliment of this community and speaks well to Northeast Oklahoma and how we all work together as a state, Fallin said.

“We plan to complete construction of this world-class technology center by the beginning of 2013 and hire additional engineers and technicians to continue our efforts to produce best-in-class technologies,” said Baker Hughes Vice President of Artificial Lift Luis Moncada.

Construction of the new facility is scheduled to begin in the coming months. The new facility will create new lab space for product development and provide

six new flow loops, allowing for enhanced motor testing.

This economic growth is another example of the impact the oil and gas industry is making in the state of Oklahoma. Fallin expressed her gratitude to Baker Hughes and local officials for their work that brought the growth to Claremore.

“Thank you for the confidence you have shown in the State of Oklahoma to bring these jobs to this wonderful community,” she said.

“We are going to do everything to create the best work climate and expand the workforce,” she said. “We can’t say thank you enough to Chad Deaton and his team for all you have done and to all of your employees that have chosen Claremore, Oklahoma’s Baker Hughes facility for a new expansion of research and development division to help us in a very important industry that is our oil and gas industry,” she said.

It is important to have local cooperation in this type of development. One way is to have a skilled workforce to support expansions like this one, according to Fallin.

Additionally, Baker Hughes officials announced plans for future expansion across the state. Approximately 600 more jobs will be added in other locations across the state as part of the total expansion.

“Baker Hughes is helping us provide American energy and American jobs, that is something I support,” Fallin said.
