Landry Jones among 6 Sooners invited to NFL Scouting Combine

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma will have six former players represented in the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Feb. 20-26. The NFL has confirmed that safety Tony Jefferson, offensive tackle Lane Johnson, quarterback Landry Jones, defensive lineman Stacy McGee, wide receiver Kenny Stills and linebacker Tom Wort are set to participate.

The Sooners lead all Big 12 schools with six players selected for the NFL Scouting Combine. Kansas State (five) was the only other squad with more than three former players currently invited.

In total, 29 Big 12 players have received invitations, meaning 20.7 percent of the conference players represented in Indianapolis will be from the University of Oklahoma.

Currently, 333 players have been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. Participants are determined annually by a selection committee. The directors of both National and BLESTO scouting services, which combined represent 25 NFL teams, are joined by members of various NFL player personnel departments to form the committee.

Here is a breakdown of respective positions at the NFL Scouting Combine where OU has a player represented: Quarterbacks - 16, linebackers - 35, wide receivers - 39, defensive linemen - 54, offensive linemen - 58 and defensive backs - 60.

The 2013 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25-27. Oklahoma has supplied 357 players all-time in the NFL Draft, the fourth-highest total of all schools. In 2012, the Sooners had seven players drafted. Dating back to 2000, 60 OU players have been tabbed in the NFL Draft.
