CLAREMORE —
The Coweta Tigers extended Claremore’s losing streak to 12-straight games Friday with their 63-31 win over the Zebras in Metro Lakes Conference play.
Claremore dropped to 0-12 and 0-7 in conference in head coach Tommy Nolan’s second year.
From the opening tip, Coweta controlled the tempo and fired on all cylinders.
Ty Gunter and Zach Norris combined to score 7 points in the first quarter as Coweta led 15-5.
Norris heated up in the second quarter and increased Coweta’s lead to 32-12 at halftime.
The sharp-shooting guard led the Tigers with a game-high 22 points in just three quarters of action.
His twin brother, Caleb Norris, also contributed with 11 points on three treys and a baseline jumper.
Gunter rounded out Coweta’s scoring with 7 points.
Claremore, who trailed 50-17 at the end of the third quarter, tallied 14 points in the final eight minutes.
Brett Russell paced the Zebras offense with 8 points, while Dontre’ Murphy added 5. Truman Burrage, Hunter Garroutte and Daniel Lauer also finished with 3 points each.
The Zebras return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday against Oologah.
