Eagles win 11th in row


June 24, 2009 — Claremore's 1st Bank Eagles extended their winning streak to 11 games Tuesday night with a 7-6, come-from-behind American Legion baseball victory at Vinita.

The Eagles increased their record to 13-2.

The 3A Legion team trailed, 6-5, entering the eighth inning before breaking away from the home team.

The Eagles tied the game on an RBI single by Clay Debban.

In the ninth, Michael Skimbo walked, Travis Stafford singled and a passed ball put runners on third and second with one out. Ryan Staggs' sacrifice fly plated the winning run.

Stafford was the starting pitcher. He went five innings. Skimbo pitched two innings and Travis Teague picked up the win for his shutout work in the eighth and ninth.

The Eagles will be in the three-day Pryor tournament beginning Thursday. They will open against Oologah at 3 p.m. On Friday, the Eagles will play Rogers, Ark., at 5:30 p.m. and Pryor at 8 p.m. Saturday's game time and opponent is to be determined.
