FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. —
ESPN sources reported Tuesday afternoon that Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long has reached an agreement with Wisconsin’s Brett Bielema to be the next head football coach for the Razorbacks.
Earlier Tuesday, it was rumored that Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy had met with Arkansas officials and a deal was being finalized.
A press conference has been set for today to announce the hiring of Bielema as the next Arkansas coach.
Bielema takes over for interim coach John L. Smith, who led Arkansas to a 4-8 season in 10 months on the job.
In seven seasons at Wisconsin, Bielema owns a 68-24 record and has led the Badgers to three consecutive Rose Bowl appearances and four 10-win seasons.
Wisconsin wrapped up its regular season with an 8-5 record and clinched the Big Ten championship following a 70-31 win over Nebraska.
