Top-ranked Oklahoma Baptist had a 21-point lead whittled down to three points late in the second half before holding on f a 74-66 win over Wayland Baptist Saturday in the Noble Complex.
The Bison never trailed, opening with the game's first nine points and hitting four three-pointers for a 12-3 lead four minutes into the game. Chase Adams had two of those three-pointers while Kameron Price and David Johnson added one apiece.
WBU washed that lead down to 21-20 before the Bison went on a 12-5 run for a 33-25 lead. OBU led 37-27 at halftime.
"You don't knock people out in the (Sooner Athletic Conference)," said OBU Coach Doug Tolin. "It was a battle."
The Bison used an 8-0 run with three points each from Johnson and Clinton Houston to build a 60-39 lead with 10:51 left in the game.
