The Tulsa women's basketball team will take on Arkansas at 7 p.m. tonight at the Tulsa Convention Center. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the Tulsa Convention Center box office.
The Golden Hurricane will be battling for its first win of the season, as TU dropped a 73-64 decision to UALR and a 64-53 mark to Oral Roberts in its first two contests. Taleya Mayberry has a team-best 16.0 points per game, while Tiffani Couisnard posts 9.5 ppg and Ashley Clark is right behind her with 9.0 ppg. Couisnard has pulled down an average of 10.0 rebounds per game and has six steals on the year.
Arkansas won their only previous regular season contest, a 97-58 decision over Jackson State. Calli Berna had a team-leading 22 points, while Quistelle Williams added 17 and Jhasmin Bowen had 14 points and a team-best 10 rebounds. Berna also recorded a team-high seven assists and three steals. UA shot 50-percent from the field, 41-percent from behind the arc and 68-percent from the charity stripe.
This will be the 19th meeting between the two teams as UA leads the series, 16-2.

Area players earn All-Region baseball awards
The awards keep piling up for Verdigris High School graduate Blake Battenfield.
After being named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Large East team earlier this week, Battenfield and numerous other players from Rogers County earned OCA All-Region accolades.
Battenfield was joined by his teammate, Ryan Hurd, who was a senior outfielder/shortstop for the three-time Class 3A state champion Verdigris Cardinals. -
NEO softball season ends in Utah
Sophomore pitcher Maggie Ham struck out 12 batters to lead the No. 1 seed Butler (Kan.) Community College Grizzlies to a 5-2 victory over No. 4 seed Northeastern A&M College Friday afternoon in a loser's bracket elimination game of the NJCAA Women's Division 1 National Softball Tournament at the Canyons Complex.
