Claremore student receives scholarship from Oklahoma State

CLAREMORE — The School of Media and Strategic Communications at Oklahoma State University recently announced its 2010-2011 scholarship recipients. Thirty-one students received scholarships totaling more than $55,000.

Kristina McConnaughey, a student from Claremore, was awarded the Daily O’Collegian’s Mark of Excellence Scholarship.

“We are pleased to be able to award students scholarships based on their academic performance,” Derina Holtzhausen, director of the School of Media and Strategic Communications, said. “We are proud of our students’ accomplishments and thankful for our many generous donors who fund these scholarships to help students further their education at OSU.”

The School of Media and Strategic Communications offers three degrees: multimedia journalism, strategic communications and sports media. SMSC also offers students a living and learning community opportunity through its residential SMSC House. The School of Media and Strategic Communications is the largest school in the College of Arts and Sciences at OSU, with more than 500 declared students. SMSC has been continuously accredited through The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications since 1928.
