McDonald named All-American Scholar

CLAREMORE — Seventh-grader Katlyn McDonald, daughter of Geff and Gina McDonald of Claremore, has recently been selected as an All-American Scholar.

The AAS program offers deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines.
Scholars must earn a 3.3  or higher grade point average and must be selected by a school instructor, counselor or other qualified sponsor. McDonald was nominated for the award by Melissa Newbury and will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook which is published nationally.
“Katlyn loves to learn.  She excels like no one else I know and is a go, go type of girl.  We are very proud of her,” said Gina McDonald, Katlyn’s mother.
Katlyn was excited when she realized she received national attention for her studies.
“My parents support me in whatever I do and are very helpful,” McDonald said.
She is currently taking high school math and science which are both offered at the junior high.  In the future, McDonald would like to study medicine and someday become a medical researcher.
She enjoys soccer and tennis and is looking forward to starting basketball this year at the junior high.
