Academic Accolades: 4 Claremore students commended in the 2013 National Merit Program

CLAREMORE — Around 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized this year for their academic promise.

Although they will not continue in the 2013 competition for the National Merit Scholarship awards, the Claremore students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2013 competition.
Scholars who participated were selected by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
This year, Claremore has had five National Merit Scholars, including Claremore senior Baily Wilton, a semifinalist still in the running for the National Merit Scholarship worth $2,500.
“We are so proud of our scholars and congratulate each of them on their academic accomplishments,” said counselor Sue Allbritton.
