Chef Remmi named judge for Future Chef competition

CLAREMORE — Catalayah Elementary and Sodexo Foods have announced that Tulsa child chef Remmi Smith will be a judge for the 3rd annual Sodexo Future Chefs: Healthy Eating Challenge. The Iron Chef-style competition this year is based on healthy salad recipes.

Claremore student finalists will present their creation, assessed on originality, taste, presentation, child friendliness and use of healthy ingredients.
Last year, the nationally-recognized chef was named Sodexo’s first student ambassador for child nutrition.
Smith is host of “Cook Time with Remmi” and “The Culinary Kid.” Both shows encourage children to use Smith’s CHEF Challenge, promoting healthy eating and frequent exercise. The goal is to teach children how to prepare complete family meals while following kitchen safety instructions.
“Remmi is a fascinating person and we’re excited to have her as one of the judges this year,” said Pamela Watson, Sodexo General Manager for Claremore Schools. “She is a wonderful example of student well-being and achievement through nutrition, which Sodexo strongly encourages and supports.”
The Future Chefs Challenge begins at 10 a.m. on March 9 in the cafeteria of Catalayah Elementary.
