April 8, 2009 — For the sixth year, Inola Schools served as host for the “Battle of the Brains” academic competition. Rogers County students in grades third through eighth who have excelled in math, language arts, science and social studies were invited to participate.
Schools participating included Chelsea, Claremore, Sequoyah, Foyil, Inola, Justus-Tiawah, Oologah-Talala, Sperry and Verdigris.
First, second and third place medals were given in each division. Fourth, fifth and sixth places were awarded ribbons and/or certificates. Two students per grade level were allowed to enter. No student could enter more than two subjects per grade level.
Students in the sixth through eighth grades placing first, second or third will be allowed to participate in the Tournament of Champions to be held in El Reno on April 18.
