CLAREMORE —
Trivia went to a whole new level during the annual Brainiac Brawl Saturday night at the Rogers State University Centennial Center Ballroom.
The event, sponsored by the Claremore Public Schools Foundation, raised $31,000 to benefit the children and teachers in the school district.
“I am so appreciative to the community for making the 2012 Brainiac Brawl such a success.” Marla Lilli, Foundation Director said.
Questions asked by Kathy Taylor had some people scratching their heads.
However, the crowd proved to be very competitive.
The questions were not for the faint of heart or those who have long forgotten their Oklahoma history.
Additionally, each table had the option to participate in a decorating contest. All for fun and all to raise a little extra for the foundation. Each team raised funds by selling items to the crowd.
The table decorations were over the top and the “voting” for the tables was “spirited” as tables vied to be the “Table Decoration Champions” for 2012, according to Lillie.
The table decoration winners were the Kinda Korny Kettle Corn Clever Carnies. Their table featured a full-scale carnival game, balloon animals, popcorn and cotton candy.
A silent auction was also another avenue in which funds were raised. It included items from hot air balloon rides, a birthday basket, pet care, teeth whitening and even a Colorado Vacation.
There was something for everyone to get excited about.
Finally it was time to get down to business and that is when the crowd flexed their intellectual muscles and dusted out the spider webs from their brains.
“The Brainiac Brawlers really showed up ‘ready to rumble’ and the competition to earn the traveling trophy was too close to call until the end of the night,” Lillie said.
The Brainiac Champions were the Hillcat BizTeks but, at the end of the night, the real winners were the children in the Claremore Public Schools.
