INOLA — Dr. Kent Holbrook, superintendent of Inola Public Schools, met with several individuals and organizations in the community recently to discuss the school budget crisis.
He also told of the decisions he has had to make regarding the budget shortfall and what the outcome in the months ahead may look like for the school district. Holbrook said that while the school is surviving at the present time, things could change drastically if there is a 10 percent budget shortfall in the coming year.
Holbrook praised the support staff, administrators and teachers for their support during this budget crisis. Some have taken pay cuts and others have continued to work without pay. The community, he said, has been very supportive during this challenging time.
Those in attendance gave Dr. Holbrook their support and told of their appreciation of his candor and the excellent job that he is doing for the Inola School District.
Several organizations plan on working together planning fundraising events that will involve the entire community in support of the Inola school district.
