CLAREMORE — OPEN HOUSE

Verdigris United Methodist Church will host a “Welcome Home” open house from 4:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. They will serve free hot dogs, chips and drink. Activities are planned for children and older youth.

‘MISSION POSSIBLE’

Good Samaritan Ministry will host “Mission Possible” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Faith Baptist Church. A love offering will be taken to benefit the ministry’s building relocation. Desserts and beverages will be served.

ARTS AND CRAFTS FAIR

First Baptist Church of Verdigris will host the Amazing Grace Arts and Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 17 in the church community building. Crafts, baked goods, baby accessories, gently used decorator items and wall decor will be available. Admission is free.

SHRIMP PEEL

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will hold its annual Shrimp Peel from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 17. Menu includes all you can eat boiled shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes, cole slaw, sherbet and iced tea. FIRST ANNIVERSARY

Mt. Zion Baptist Church will celebrate the first anniversary of their pastor and wife, Rev. Bertheophilus and Arrica Bailey, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. The church is located at 805 N. Oseuma Ave.

CAMP MEETING

Verdigris Assembly of God will host Camp Meeting 2011 beginning Sunday, Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 19-21 at 7 p.m. There will be a different speaker each night. ‘YOUTH WORSHIP NITE’

Nside Out Youth will host Youth Worship Nite from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Lifechanger Church, located 1/2 mile north of Rogers State University on Highway 88. Thomas Buckley from Yukon will be leading praise and worship.

ARTS & CRAFTS SHOW

Eastern Hills Baptist Church will hosts its 3rd Annual Fall Arts & Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

The event is free and open to the public. The church is located off Highway 20, one mile north of Will Rogers Downs.

NEW CHURCH

Rugged Cross Ministry, a new church, will begin meeting Sunday, Sept. 25 at Claremore Comfort Inn in the conference room. Services are at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday services begin Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.

It is also the home of Warriors Beyond the Walls Motor Cycle Ministry.

Church leadership includes Revs. Gary and Barbara Rawdon and Revs. Dywane and Jill Moore (assistant pastors).

AGLOW INTERNATIONAL

Aglow International is forming a chapter or “lighthouse” in Claremore.

Aglow provides a safe place to share concerns with other people and receive prayer or counseling, along with fellowship.

The lighthouse currently meets from 3-4 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of each month at the home of Patty Buckner, at 1213 W. School St., as they search for a more permanent location.

HYMN FESTIVAL

Redeemer Lutheran Church will host a Hymn Festival and Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29.

Background information about each song will be read. Along with congregational singing, a choir will be performing a couple of numbers — one will also include a children’s choir. Ice cream and cookies will be served following.

Those interested in participating in the choirs may attend rehearsals at 4 p.m. Sept. 18 and 25. The church is located at 220 N. Seminole in Claremore.
