CLAREMORE —
Elva Lou (Taylor) Rongey of Kiefer, Okla. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013.
She was born in Boynton, Okla. on Jan. 15, 1926 to parents, Evelyn (Hobbs) Taylor and Charles Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Don Edward Rongey; her step-mother, Nancy Taylor; sisters, Billie Turner and Elaire Cook; and brother, Reverend Gary Taylor of Claremore, Okla. as well as Ada Hightman, of Kiefer, Okla., who raised her upon the death of her mother Evelyn.
Former Husband, Ira E. Rongey and Elva Lou were married April 15, 1946 and as a result of this union, their children were born.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon and (Robert) Atkins of Newnan, Ga., Linda and (John) Surmont, Joyce Rongey, Janette and (Donald) Ashford, Mary and (Mike) Shadowens; her son, Ira E. (Eddie) and Tashia Rongey, all of Kiefer. Grandchildren, Robert III and (Cathy) Atkins of Newnan, Ga., Avery and (William) Warren of Dallas, Texas, Scott and (Tasia) Surmont of Okataha, OK, Kristen and (Gary) Hudson, Dennis and (Jennifer) Ashford, Carrie and (Jayme) Buck, Mark and (Lori) Shadowens, Marty and (Becky) Shadowens, Renea and (Jeremy) Garrett, Dominic Rongey, Taylor Rongey, Dalton Rongey, Austin Rongey all of Kiefer, Ira Rongey III and (Whitley) Rongey of Broken Arrow, Okla.; brothers, Reverend Charles and (Pat) Taylor of Richardson, Texas, Don and (Shirley Taylor of Shertz, Texas; sisters, Rita Taylor, Patty and (Wayne) Wallace all of Claremore, Okla. and Vivian and (late husband Rev. Thomas) Craighead of Cilo, Mich. She is also survived by her many and dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Elva Lou “Meme” had great grandchildren: Caroline and Callie Atkins of Newnan, Ga. Hadley Warren of Dallas, Texas, Brody and Brynn Surmont of Oktaha, Okla. Gavin and Grayson Hudson, Julia and Trenton Ashford, Jaylee and Cooper Buck, Lexy and Marcus Shadowens, Brooke, Blake and Sergio Shadowens, Destiny Epperson, Braden Mooney and Jaylinn Garrett all of Kiefer, Okla.
Elva Lou attended Kiefer High School and graduated in 1945. She was a lifetime member of Kiefer First Christian Church and lived in Kiefer all her life. “Meme's” sincerest prayer in life and the desire of her heart was that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would have a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and covenant together to meet again in heaven.
At her age of 87, “Meme” could still remember each and every birthday of her entire family.
She served her Lord and Savior all her life and was instrumental in leading many to attend church and follow the Lord! She will always be remembered as “Meme” to everybody she knew and will truly be missed but had worked hard to earn the privilege to enter those golden gates and free from all her pain and suffering from all her broken bones.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 from 2-9 p.m. and Friday, March 1, 2013 from 9 a..m. until 9 p.m. at Green Hill Funeral Home.
Family will be present at funeral Home to receive visitors on Friday from 6-8 p.m.. Services will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m, at The first Christian Church of Sapulpa. Benjamin Stokes Thaxton, 91, born in Dewey, Okla. on Aug. 30, 1921. He entered into rest on May 13, 2013. Ben died at his home in the presence of his wife of 70 years, Charlotte Roberta Hale Thaxton.

She was so spirited and full of life. She loved and cared deeply for all her friends she met through the consignment shops. She loved to visit. Rebecca enjoyed life.
