Leota Mae “Odie” Parsons

CLAREMORE — Services for Leota Mae “Odie” Parsons will be 2:00p.m., Wed., Feb., 6, 2013 at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Chandler, OK. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.

Visitation will be today from 2-7 at Rice, with family receiving visitors from 5-7. There will also be visitation from 11 until service time in Chandler. Leota passed away on Sun., Feb., 3, 2013. She was 91.

Born in Olive, OK on Jan., 4, 1922 to Lee and Johnnie Mae (Campbell) Marrs, Odie received her education in Chandler, graduating from Chandler High School. On Nov., 7, 1941 she married R.C. Parsons in Aires Massachusetts and the couple made their home in Oklahoma City.

Odie was gifted with not only internal beauty but outward beauty as well and received the honor of having her picture displayed at Bishops, an elite restaurant in Oklahoma City, where she was a bookkeeper for many years.

She also graced the cover of magazines in the Oklahoma City area.

Having a passionate love for her family, Odie and her sister, Juanita, had a bond that lasted for 91 years.

When she was born her sister was there holding her hand and when she left this life she was there holding her hand as well. After the death of their husbands, the two sisters were able to live together. Many would say once again, Odie loved to be nurtured by her sister.

Odie had the great pleasure of being dubbed the family scrap booker and had numerous scrapbooks of all her families’ accomplishments.

She also held the title of favorite aunt, making each visit to her home memorable, whether it was riding around in a convertible, sunbathing, pageants or dressing up to the hilt…white gloves included for a day of shopping. She always made it a social event.

This lady of grace and charm will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Odie is survived by her sister, Juanita Mitacek of Claremore; nieces, Janice Wallis and husband Ron, and Annette Morrison; nephews, Michael Mitacek and wife Lyn of Monterey Park, Calif., and Craig Marrs; great-nieces, Emily Bezdek and husband Jeremy, Libby Lalli and husband Ben; great-nephews, Scott Wallis, Clint Wallis and wife Kaisa; 11 great great-nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Jasque Marrs. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, R.C. Parsons; mother, Johnnie Marrs; father, Lee Marrs; brother, Frank Marrs; brother-in-law, Bill Mitacek.
