Carl Edward Brock

CLAREMORE — Services for Sgt. Carl Edward Brock will be 10  a.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Destiny Life Church; burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with full military honors.  Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the funeral home and family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m.

Carl passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012.  He was 28 years old.

Born Feb.  11, 1984, in New Orleans, La. to Paul Gould and Deana Brock, he graduated from McDonald 35 High School and then attended Atlanta College of Arts.  After college, Carl returned to his hometown of New Orleans where he stayed until the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina forced him and his family to relocate to Claremore.

Carl was fun loving and had a great sense of humor.  He was recognized as the person that brought the party.  His smile was contagious to everyone he met, and wherever he went the girls seemed to follow.  

Carl was very close with his family and loved being with his friends.  He also had a talent of being a physical comedian and enjoyed making others laugh.  He was gifted in music and a talented artist.

His specialty was graphite pencil drawings and many times those sketches were completed in minutes. Carl won numerous art contests and some of his work consisted of murals on buildings in New Orleans.  

He was also a huge movie buff which was apparent by the video library he kept in his home.  

While living in Claremore, Carl was very involved with Habitat for Humanity and started his own calendar company.  

He later joined the United States Army August 2, 2007 at the age of 22.

Sgt. Brock attended Basic training at Fort Benning Georgia and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon Georgia.  

Upon graduation as a 25Q, Multichannel Transmission Operator, he was assigned to the 72nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 7th Signal Brigade, 5th Signal Command out of Mannheim, Germany.  During his time with the 72nd ESB SGT Brock deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from July 2009 through July 2010 as a member of a team that provided communications for the unit.

Sgt. Brock did a concurrent overseas assignment transfer from Germany to the 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Red Cloud, Korea where he served as a Transmission Team Chief.

In November 2011, SGT Brock PCS from Korea and was assigned to C CO 2BSTB 10th Mountain Division as a Transmission Team Chief in 1st Platoon.

Sgt. Brock’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with Combat Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, The Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon.  

Carl will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.  He is survived by his father Paul Gould and wife Tonya; his mother Deana Moses; siblings, Paul Brock, Paula Dally and husband Michael, Larry Segura, Anjelika Gould, Jannelle Gould, Javonni Kelly, Halle Gould, Samantha Larrabee, and Natosha Ray; grandparents, Murladeen Brock, Cornelius Bannister, and Gertrude Bannister; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded by his grandfather Noel Shaw and great grandmother Bernice Scott.
