Born in Jay on Aug. 22, 1929, to Hugh and Myrtle (Snell) Foreman, Woody was reared and educated in Jay. Woody continued his education at Okmulgee Tech where he mastered the craft that would be his life’s work as an auto paint and body technician. Barron and Hart was his first employment and he retired from Arnold’s Paint and Body in the late ‘80’s. Woody served in the U.S. Army First Cavalry and 45th Division from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant.
In February of 1953, Woody and Betty Seaton married. Their first home was in Tulsa but in 1958 the family moved to Claremore. In leisure time, Woody could be found fishing, a hobby which he took very seriously. He and Betty even belonged to husbands and wives fishing clubs. Very proud of his Cherokee heritage, Woody both spoke and wrote Cherokee. Friendly, supportive and loving, Woody was a great and gentle man.
