James Ray Forbes

CLAREMORE — A Memorial service for James Ray Forbes will be Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Jim passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at his home. He was 75 years old.

Born in Morrison, Okla. on July 30, 1937 to Clifford and Ester Lucille (Kizer) Forbes, Jim was raised and educated in the Oilton, Okla. area where he graduated from high school.  On Sept. 25, 1959 Jim and Patricia Austin were married in Satanta, Kan.  Providing for his family was Jim’s first priority and he enjoyed a long career in the petrochemical field.  In 1977 the Claremore area became home for Jim, Pat and their two children.   

Their rural property was the ideal spot for Jim to take up pecan farming, a hobby that brought him much enjoyment.  He also enjoyed farm auctions, a good hand of Texas Hold ‘Em and friendly wagering with his buddies at several of his favorite watering holes. After retirement, Jim and Pat had the opportunity to do something they both enjoyed and that was travel.  As they got older the grandchildren were invited along to some of their favorite destinations, Zapata, TX and Gunnison, Colo. Their last big trip covered over 2,000 miles and was shared with his granddaughters.

Jim’s legacy will live on as his children and grandchildren remember words of wisdom:  “Be responsible.  Work Hard.  Stop and Think About It.  Use your Head,” which affectionately became known as "The Common Sense Lecture".  Beloved husband, father, grandfather and good friend, Jim is survived by his wife, Pat, of their Claremore home; his children, Bret Forbes and wife Betty, and Stacy Anderegg and husband Don, all of Claremore; his grandchildren Wesley Forbes and wife Christie of Weatherford, OK, Eric Forbes, Jennifer Kilpatrick and husband Tim, and Rindi Murray, all of Claremore; great grandchildren Baylie, Blayne, Byron, and Aubree Forbes, Kizer Kilpatrick and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Forbes.

Visitation will be from 12-5 p.m. on Sunday with family receiving visitors from 3-5. Dale passed away on June 13, 2013. He was 80 years old.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.

Family will receive visitors from 5-7 on Thursday evening at the Funeral Home.  Alice passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013. She was 66.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 at the funeral home.  Family members will be there from 5-7 p.m.

    Jerry passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at St. John Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 61.
