CLAREMORE — Services for James R. Brock will be 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Nowata Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thurs., Jan. 3 from 1-7 p.m.

James passed away on Mon., Dec. 31, 2012.  He was 90.

Born July 30, 1922 in Nowata, Okla., to Robert and Cynthia (Renfro) Brock, James was reared and educated in his birth community. Following his schooling, he entered the Army and when he finished his duties he returned to Nowata and met Lila Lee Morgan. The two were married on April 11, 1947 and together made their home in Nowata.  With James’ work in the oil fields, his job took them to several places, one of which was Haskell, Texas. This was home for many years before moving 26 years ago to the Verdigris area and this has been home since.

James was a great provider for his family and an excellent husband to Lila.  He enjoyed life to the fullest and when he wasn’t hard at work he loved to fish.  James’ other hobby came from raising horses; he also enjoyed taking long rides.

A great father, grandfather and friend, James will be missed by all who knew him. Those family that survive include his children; Jimmy Brock and wife Barbara of Oklahoma City, Jackie Brock and wife Sheila of Midland, Texas and Jeffrey Brock and wife Teara of Claremore; his grandchildren Jillian, Justin, Jeffrey, Jackie and Jeremy Brock and Lynn Nguyen; great-grandchild, Adrian, Andrew, Logan, and Katylynn Brock and Jason Cobb.  James was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lila of 65 years and 8 months, daughter Connie Jo Brock, grandson Jason Brock and his sister Helen Marshall.
