Claremore, OK — Graveside service for John Burtner Fleeger will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 20, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, with Dr. Ray Crawford officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army. Burial will follow under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday 5-8 p.m.
John died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at his home at the age of 88.
The son of Burtner and Janette Fleeger was born April 27, 1921, in Milwaukee, Wis. John graduated high school from Cascia Hall, Tulsa, in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On April 6, 1961, he married Georgia Ann Zimmerman in Miami. John was vice-president of Oklahoma Steel Casting for many years, and owner of JBF Enterprises. He was a member of the Rotary, and served on the board of RCB Bank for many years. He was a past Man of the Year, and Port of Catoosa board member.
John is survived by his wife, Georgia of the home; children: Karen Knowles and husband, Tim of Claremore, Jeffrey Fleeger and wife, Kris of Claremore, John Donald Fleeger of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., and Burtner Fleeger and wife, Linda of Tulsa; brother, Tom Fleeger of Dallas, Texas; sister, Mary Jean Blanton of Sherman, Texas; grandchildren: Dana Riffle, Tara Fleeger, Stephanie Ballance, Megan Fleeger, Jeffrey Fleeger, Jr., Brianna Fleeger, Gregory Knowles, Collin Knowles, John David Fleeger, Mandy Fleeger, Melissa McClendon, Gary Fleener, and Marty Andrews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters: Susan Fleener and Ann Fleeger.
