Claremore, OK — Services for Regina Lanea (Thurman) Smith will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at East Gate Assembly of God. Pastor Wayne Johnson will share words of comfort. Friends may visit at the funeral home until 8 this evening with the family receiving visitors from 6 to 8. Regina passed away Friday, June 12, 2009. She was 49.

Born in Claremore on Dec. 30, 1959, to John Fredrick and Mary (Sumter) Thurman, Regina attended school in Catoosa and graduated from high school there. She worked as a legal secretary for 20 years before entering the medical field. She was most recently employed as a medical assistant at Omni Medical Group in Owasso.

Regina and Damon Smith married on the first day of spring in 2004 in a Eureka Springs ceremony. The couple made their home in Owasso.

Survivors include her husband, Damon Smith, DVM, of their home; her son, Zachary A. Rogers of Sperry; daughters Chelsea L. King and husband, Austin, of Oologah and Cheyanna R. Wilson of Collinsville; stepsons Drew and Dusty Smith of Owasso; grandsons, Blake Rogers, Devan Rogers, Lucas Wilson, Camden Rogers-Mayfield; her parents, Fred and Mary Thurman of Catoosa; sister, Diana Thurman and brother, Freddie Thurman, both also of Catoosa; and seven nephews.
