Wayne passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010. He was 68.

Born in Dawson, on Aug. 23, 1941, to William and Fern Margaret (Heltzel) Trude, Wayne was reared and educated in Tulsa and Owasso. He completed his education, earning a GED in later years before beginning military service in the U.S. Air Force. After receiving an honorable discharge, Wayne returned to Owasso where he met Opal Rose Ogden. The couple married on Feb. 13, 1964, and two children were born to their union. The family lived in Owasso and Catoosa before settling in Claremore. Opal passed away in 1991. Wayne and Alva Lee (Neal) Hiatt met on a blind date in Claremore. On June 10, 1994, they married in a ceremony in Bentonville, Ark. They have made their home in the Foyil community.

Wayne worked as an overland truck driver and in the 15 years that he and Alva were married they logged over a million miles together as she accompanied him on the majority of his trips. Though remembered as ornery and feisty, Wayne and Alva enjoyed all the time they spent together. When not on the road, Wayne was a fan of Fox News, with T.V. Westerns as a second choice. Identified as Daddy, Grandpa, Papa Wayne, or affectionately, Old Man, Wayne was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his large and loving family.

Those who survive him include his wife, Alva, of their home in Foyil; his daughter Tonya Bales and husband, Dewayne of Skiatook; grandchildren Quardale Bales also of Skiatook and Brittni McLain of Hudson, Wyo.; great grandchildren Braylon Blake, Brooke and Colt; stepchildren, Billy Hiatt and wife, Marcy of Keefeton, and Richard Hiatt and wife, Mona, of Muskogee; stepgrandchildren, Melanie, Jonathan, Chelsey, Jayne and Kay-Lee Hiatt, all of Muskogee and Katelynn and Shelby Hiatt, of Keefeton; and his sister, Reta Williams and husband Noah, of Callahan, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Opal, his son, Steve, and sisters Earlene, Billie Marie and infant baby sister Rebecca.

Those who wish to honor Wayne’s memory with a memorial gift in lieu of flowers may do so by contributing to the Wayne Trude Memorial Fund, c/o Rev. Richard Hubbard @ House of Prayer, 16750 S. 4180 Road, Claremore, OK 74017.
