T.J. Grizzle

CLAREMORE — T.J. Grizzle was born Aug. 2, 1943, to Travis and Mattie Grizzle in Levelland, Texas. He went to be with the Lord on Aug. 2, 2012, in Tulsa, Okla., at the age of 69 years.

T.J. grew up working hard on farms picking cotton. The Brunson family helped him finish high school and guided him toward college. T.J. attended Harden Simmons Baptist University on a football scholarship. He struggled to succeed in college so he transferred to Eastern New Mexico University and joined Sigma Nu where he made life-long friends. During his exciting career, he worked at Centrilift in Claremore, Okla. He received many awards for his profession and was honored with dinner. T.J. made friends wherever he went and never met a man he did not love. The Grizzle family was known for “honesty to a fault” and “a deal is a deal.” These quotations are taken from the Family Tree Book. T.J. loved his family, genealogy, fishing, and the lake.

Loving family members include his daughters: Kim Stockberger and her husband, Robert, of Los Angeles, Calif. and McKenzie Grizzle of Tulsa, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Calvin Grizzle. Visitation will be held from 1-6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Christ United Methodist Church, 3515 South Harvard Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74136 with Reverend Robert Fiest, Sr., officiating. Committal services and interment will be held at Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Skiatook, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests blood donations or CPR classes at the American Red Cross.
