Oleta went to be with our Lord on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at the age of 91.

The daughter of George and Maggie Murnan Hunt was born Dec. 17, 1921 in Vinita, Okla. As a young girl she was raised on her families farm in Bernice. There she later attended Cleora School. Once she entered high school, she found herself playing center on the basketball team, and cheerleader for other sports. In 1939 Oleta married Edward Harvey Jones in Vinita. Then they moved to California where he worked in the ship yard she worked in Napa valley. In the early part of the 1950’s after her divorce Oleta moved back to Vinita, Oklahoma. She took a job

working at Safeway. A short time later she became acquainted with one of

the local drivers, Clinton Carl Shrum. A few years later on Nov. 22, 1956 they were married. Over the next few years they followed Clinton’s work from places such as Vinita, Coffeyville, Chelsea and finally back to Claremore. They owned and operated the Ambassador Coach Line, and the local Greyhound bus station located in the Mason Hotel. That wasn’t the only job she performed. Somehow she found time to run the first Goodwill store in Claremore, and served as a cashier for Safeway. In the later years she served primarily as a caregiver. Helping many local families take care of their loved ones. In her spare time she loved crocheting, and sitting on her front porch swing. However her most memorable times were spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Maggie Hunt; husband Clinton Shrum, and sister, Lorene McCaleb.

Survivors include her Children, Virginia Luellen and husband Jim, Doris Murphy and husband Walt, Mark Shrum and Wife Debbie, Mike Shrum, David Shrum and wife Arlene, and Brenda Garrett and husband Marty; sisters, Arvogene Spalding, Ruth Sheldon, Francis Cheek, Naomi Harrington, and Sue Beu; grandchildren, Michelle Luellen, Michael Luellen, Jim Tindell, Scott Tindell, Rhonda Mitchell, Kaysie Reed, Ashley Shrum, Brandon Shrum, John Bailey, Rae Bailey, Kyler Shrum, and Kandyce Shrum; 13 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren, along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
