Glenn Trebelhorn

CLAREMORE — Memorial service for Glenn Trebelhorn will be 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.

Glenn passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013.  He was 70.

Born Dec. 16, 1942 in Lincoln, NE, to William Lucas and Amalia (Roth) Trebelhorn, Glenn was reared and educated in Melbeta, NE.

Following his graduation from Melbeta High School, he entered the U.S. Navy and served his country as a fireman for the missile house.  His duties were not to put out fires, but to push the button to launch the missile.

With his duties complete and honorably discharged, Glenn returned to Nebraska.  On March 25, 1967 he and Kathryn Roehrkasse married and made their home in Lincoln, together they were blessed with 3 children.

Glenn began working for a company that produced military parts, later worked on a cancer research project at the University of Nebraska. His life long career was with the Lincoln Telephone company.  He held several positions but was a cable splicer during his 34 years of faithful employment.

Avid gardeners, Glenn and Kathryn enjoyed spending time together in the garden.  He took care of the vegetables and she the flowers and they spent many hours sitting outside looking over what they created.  Glenn loved hunting and fishing.

Other hobbies included woodworking and stained glass.   His animals gave him great pleasure and Jack and Hilda were among his favorites.  Glenn lived life to its fullest, never missing an opportunity to spend time with his family and friends.

A caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Glenn leaves a treasure of memories to all he knew.  Those that survive include his wife Kathryn of their home in Verdigris; his children, Michael Glenn Trebelhorn and wife Lisa Almquist Trebelhorn of Lincoln, NE, Christine Elizabeth Jelinek and husband Terry and David William Trebelhorn all of Verdigris; his grandchildren, Clayton Deloss Jelinek, Nichlas Owen Trebelhorn, Trey Conrad Jelinek, Joshua Evan Trebelhorn and Sarah Beth Jelinek; his brother William Trebelhorn and wife Barbara of Fountain Hills, AR and his sister Dorothy Tice and husband James of Lincoln, NE; and a number of nieces and nephews.
