NTC offers opportunity to attend Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics nearby

Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 — Northeast Technology Center is hosting an informational meeting about how high school students can attend the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics at an NTH campus, while staying at home.

There will be a parents’ informational meeting at Nth Afton Campus on Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of acquainting parents and high school sophomores and juniors about OSSM courses that will be provided at the tech centers starting in August. Nth Afton Campus is located on Highway 69, four miles north of Afton.

The OSSM Regional Centers at NTH are a branch of the prestigious OSSM based in Oklahoma City. The Regional Centers at NTH offers advanced courses in Calculus and Physics to eligible local high school students free of charge. This allows high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take OSSM courses without having to go to Oklahoma City to do so.

These courses give students the background needed to enroll in advanced-level classes when they go to college, thereby saving time and money. High school credits are awarded through the home high school. Classes follow Nth schedule and school calendar. The application period begins Feb. 1 and runs through March 31.
