Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 — Chelsea High School freshman through senior students in Liberty Shere’s Business Technology classes recently participated in the Rogers County Young Entrepreneur Classroom program. The RCYE classroom program is one of the avenues the Rogers County Industrial Development Authority’s Education Initiative reaches county high school students.
Business volunteers Kris Beyer, associate producer of Travel Host Magazine, and Debi Ward, RCIDA executive assistant, were teachers for this semester’s classes.
Some of the topics covered in the “Success Skills” class were the importance of first impressions, building a resume, creating a business card, dressing for and preparing for an interview. Ward’s students also participated in a rotation of mock interviews as well as a personal interview with her. The Young Entrepreneur program utilizes Junior Achievement curriculum as a part of their classroom programs.
The Rogers County Young Entrepreneur program offers the high school students of Rogers County opportunities to participate in classroom programs throughout the school year; Reality Check — a financial and life simulation; and POWER UP 2010 — two days of Business Etiquette training and a formal dinner with Oklahoma School of Etiquette founder and coach.
POWER UP 2010 will be offered Feb. 8-9, 22-23, and 25-26. Reality Check will be held March 24-25. For more information on how your school or students can attend contact Ginger Reimer, 918-695-6061.
