CLAREMORE —
A Chelsea man is in Rogers County Jail today after being arrested for possession of marijuana after a previous felony conviction.
Rogers County Deputies responded to a disturbance call in the Chelsea area Monday afternoon, following dispatch reports of a “suspicious man stumbling near a residence.”
According to the report, the caller feared the man would attempt to gain entry to her home, so she brought her children inside and called 911.
“Deputies were advised that the woman was very afraid and had said she was prepared to shoot (the suspect) if he made entry to her home,” said Johnny O’Mara, deputy, Rogers County Sheriff’s Office. “Once they arrived in the area, deputies were directed to a heavily wooded area, where the man had run into.”
Deputies then entered the woods to search for the man, later spotting the suspect who had been seen in a pasture.
“Deputy (Tandy) Reeder found and identified the man to be James Ryan Bunnell of Chelsea,” O’Mara said. “Deputy Reeder knew the man from previous experiences and knew him to be the subject of an outstanding felony warrant for Failing to Pay in connection with a previous manslaughter charge.”
Deputy Reeder then took the man into custody without further incident.
Rogers County Deputies Quint Tucker and Chris Houston also assisted in the search for and subsequent arrest of Bunnell.
A small quantity of marijuana was discovered on Bunnell, 33, and he was later arrested and booked into Rogers County Jail on complaints of Possession of Marijuana (After Former Conviction of a Felony).
