A Claremore man was sent to a Tulsa hospital over the weekend with injuries received from a single vehicle accident.
According to the report of OHP Trooper Jon Ysbrand, Roy L. Fitzgerald, 47, was traveling westbound “at a high rate of speed” on County Road EW 38 in his 1999 Dodge Durango at 10:38 p.m. Sunday.
Traveling with Fitzgerald were two 15-year-old female passengers, both of Claremore. When Fitzgerald swerved to miss a deer, he ran off the roadway to the right side and struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll half a time then catch fire, according to the report.
Fitzgerald was transported to St. John Hospital in Tulsa, where he was treated and released for head and trunk internal injuries.
The female passengers were also transported to hospitals, one to Hillcrest Hospital Claremore and one to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where they were treated for minor injuries.
All passengers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, according to the report.
OHP Trooper John Ysbrand is with Troop B of the Rogers County Detachment of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
