Claremore artist’s work to be displayed at musicians workshop

CLAREMORE — When most of us think of rock and roll music, there are a few names that come to mind — Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, and Eddie Van Halen to name a few.

The name of Claremore man John Pasdach may soon be added to that distinguished pantheon of rock list, but for a slightly different, more artistic, reason.

On Saturday, Sept. 25, a collection of Pasdach’s music-inspired artwork will be on display and sale at the Musicians Workshop in Claremore at the “Rock N’Roll Art Show.”

“So much of my work is creative play, with a bit of compulsion,” Pasdach said of his art. “I’m always interested in choosing something he hasn’t yet tried, whether it’s sketching, stippling, cartooning, photography, sculpture, or even airbrushing a portrait on a bed sheet.”

In addition to Pasdach, other special guests will include Tulsa Sound drummer Chuck Blackwell, as well as Cronic Soul, Sunday Moan, Kick Tree, and Hurricane Mason.

Live music and refreshments will be served at Pasdach’s art show, and guests can enjoy a tour of the Workshop and register to win free studio recording time, music lessons, and artwork.

Pasdach’s extensive body of work illustrates how music can influence our lives in a variety of ways, and the role it has played in his own life.

“For me, music is as crucial as the light I work by,” he said. “Whether I’m jamming to classic rock while painting a barn on the family farm where I grew up, quickly sketching a musician while watching an episode of ‘Behind the Music,’ or listening to Tori Amos while working in his studio at 3:30 a.m., for me, art and music are inseparable.”

Self-taught guitarist Pasdach expounds.

“Playing my own music is like another brain for me, but listening to music plays a big part,” he said. “It’s like a serenade that helps lure out the magic I need to do anything at all. Music creates an inspiring atmosphere for me, setting the right mood for whatever I’m working on.”

“Rock Gods,” a series of paintings by Pasdach featuring rock ‘n roll legends like Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Eric Clapton, will be on display at the Rock ‘N Roll Art Show.

Original paintings will be for sale, as well as a variety of artist-signed poster prints in various sizes ranging from $10 to $30.

Musicians Workshop, located at the corner of Davis Avenue and Blue Starr Drive in Claremore, will host the Rock ‘N Roll Art Show from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25.
