Claremont Elementary staffer contracts meningitis

CLAREMORE — A confirmed case of meningitis has been reported at Claremont Elementary School.

Superintendent Mike McClaren received confirmation Sunday evening that a staff member, who has had health issues, was admitted to a hospital on Friday. The person's name is not being released.

The person has had limited contact with students and parents haven been notified.

McClaren reported the strain of meningitis is not like the one that claimed the lives of students in the Oologah-Talala School District.

Claremore school officials will disinfect the elementary school on Monday prior to students return on Tuesday. More information will be made available on Monday.
