Claremore got a shout-out in “Oklahoma” magazine’s latest issue, being named one of the “Best Small Towns” in Oklahoma.
In the article “The Best of the Best: 2010 Edition,” Claremore was cited (with Pawhuska, Shawnee, and Guthrie) as one of the best small towns in the Oklahoma.
“Claremore being chosen as one of the top 3 Best of the Best Small Communities, is no surprise — we have so much to offer our residents and our visitors,” said Tanya Andrews, executive director, Claremore Convention & Visitors Bureau. “With world class museums, great shopping, and festivals and events almost every weekend, you just can’t do it all in one day.
“Visitors of all ages can experience Claremore,” she continued. “Oklahoma’s Cast of Legends; from Will Rogers, Historic Route 66, and of course we have the world’s largest, privately owned gun collection at the J.M. Davis Museum, mile high pie and lots of outdoor recreation available, and most of all, we have some of the friendliest folks in Oklahoma.”
The contest was decided by online voting at the magazine’s Web site from Feb. 1, 2010 through March 31, 2010.
Of the not-so-small cities voted the “Best in Oklahoma,” Choctaw, Edmond, and Norman were listed.
