Breath-able Space - New Claremore Admin. building brings bright, cheerful surroundings

CLAREMORE — The 2012-13 school year marked the beginning of a more manageable work place for the Claremore Public Schools administration.

“I love it,” said Executive Assistant Cheryl Shelton.  “There is more office space and the open halls make it bright and cheerful.”
The previous administration building, located on 310 N. Weenonah Avenue, was discovered to have water leakage, which over time created mold on the ceilings and walls.
“The mold caused everyones allergies to flare up.  Even visitors were having problems with it,” said Shelton.
Administrators and staff relocated in early August to the old Central Upper Elementary site located on 102 West 10th Street after renovation was completed.
In addition to administration, the facility also houses offices for the Claremore Public Schools Foundation.
“I’m happy to have everybody here in one building, on the same floor,” said Claremore Superintendent Mike McClaren.  “Our new location is more conducive, which makes it easier to meet with one another.”
McClaren said converting the old elementary school into offices worked out well for everyones health and professional needs.
“We are proud to be here,” he said.
