New courthouse addressing questioned

CATOOSA — The new Rogers County courthouse is scheduled to open in early April; however, the address for the building is sparking some interest.

Judge Sheila Condren is working to insure the courthouse maintains an address on Lynn Riggs Blvd.
Currently, the construction address for the building is 421 West Patti Page.
The main entrance of the courthouse will be facing west, not north and the address should be changed, according to Condren.
The courthouse committee met last week and recommends that the Rogers County Commissioners petition the City of Claremore to change the address.
The Patti Page address was good for construction purposes; but once this building is gone, the front of the building will be on Lynn Riggs, Condren said.
There will not be a public entrance on the north side of the building.
“When we originally requested an address for the building it was to be located on the front,” Commissioner Dan DeLozier said. “The recommendation was 200 S. Lynn Riggs Blvd.”
The issue is with the 911 addressing, according to E911 Director Janet Hamilton.
“If it is available and the city approves, it should not be a problem,” Hamilton said.
“We will talk to the city and get it changed. It should be the front of the building,” Commissioner Kirt Thacker said.
Assistant District Attorney David Iski made a recommendation that the Board of County Commissioner send a letter to the City of Claremore to address the issue.
The board agreed and is planning to bring the issue to the city for their review.
