October 27, 2009 — Claremore firefighters battle a blaze Monday that destroyed this home at 8832 Odie Road off 4120 Road near Southaven Road. The initial call came in as a garage on fire that was spreading quickly. Blowing winds hampered efforts to keep the fire under control and a smoke alarm at the home was sounding as firefighters fought to extinguish the blaze. A neighbor phoned 911 to report the fire and said the blaze was burning “quite a while” before the fire department arrived.
