RWD-4 treatment plant fails, water restrictions until 6 p.m.

OOLOGAH — The treatment plant at Rogers County Rural Water District No. 4 has failed cutting the volume of water available for treatment, prompting an immediate call to eliminate unnecessary water use by customers.

The failure has cut water distribution almost in half.

All patrons of the district, which includes Oologah, Talala and a substantial portion of Northwest Rogers County, are asked to immediately eliminate all unnecessary uses of water until 6 p.m.

Julie Hendrix, office manager, said usage is now exceeding inflow by 200 gallons/minute or 12,000 gallons/hour. Failure to immediately reduce usage could have drastic consequences, she said.



"If people don't work with us, in 2-3 hours the district will be out of water. Firefighting could be iffy if people don't get usage slowed way down," she said.



The district has a replacement pump in stock, but installation and refilling the system is expected to take until 6 p.m., she said.



The district is asking all people to stay away from the water treatment plant due to the large number of workers and pieces of heavy equipment there.
