State driver's license examiners offices closed today

OKLAHOMA CITY — Department of Public Safety officials say all driver's license examination stations will be closed for a day while examiners meet in Oklahoma City.

Officials say about 130 Department of Public Safety employees will undergo specialized training in customer service and receive updates on legislation, commercial driver's licenses and identification documents as well as policy changes on Thursday.

Jeff Hankins with the agency's Driver License Services division says besides employee training, the other focus will be on providing better and more efficient service through technological advancement.

Hankins said he's aware more examiners are needed, but satisfying those needs not only take an ample budget but sufficient time to educate new employees.
